Mobile applications are becoming more and more popular and some of the countries have made a great progress in using them on different devices. China which ranked only 10th last year managed to jump up to the second place having only the USA in front of them. According to the Flurry report China has become the leading country in a new smart device adoption due to its enormous population and rapidly emerging middle class. The top ten countries which greatly grew in terms of app sessions last year are in the picture. A user runs an app on his device and uses it for some time before shutting it down is one session count.
In January 2011, the USA accounted for 28% of the world’s total iOS and Android device activations, while China accounted for 8%. In February, Flurry calculated that China surpassed the United States in monthly new iOS and Android device activations for the first time in history. It is expected that Chine will account even more percents in the next following months and will become the world’s fastest growing smart device market.
USA currently has more than twice as many active devices than China. However, China, a quicker growing, emerging market, already has twice as large an installed base as the next largest market, the UK.
